"Mysticism East and West" inaugurates the RAS Focus Group on Asian Philosophies and Religions' 2022-2023 season. In this season we are proposing a series of lectures on themes related to mysticism in Asian philosophies and religions.
Our inaugural lecture features Professor James Miller from Duke Kunshan University, who will speak on the topic of "Mysticism: East and West" In this lecture, Professor Miller will offer a general introduction to the concepts of mysticism, mystical philosophy and mystical experience as cross-cultural categories, and provide examples from Western and Eastern traditions. The lecture will explore the following topics:
