The Contribution of China to Global Medical Research

Michael will start by briefly reviewing the medical and scientific roots of RAS in China and Hong Kong dating back to the 19th century and then discuss some of the most important contributions of China to global health care (including contributions from Chinese Traditional Medicine).
Coming to the present, Michael will outline the massive expansion in the Chinese science base in recent years and examine the contributions currently being made to global scientific and medical advances including AI in drug discovery, diagnosis and treatment where China plays an increasingly significant global role.
About the Speakers:
Michael Humphries studied medicine at Cambridge university, trained in internal medicine in London and moved to Hong Kong as Consultant Physician. He has held adjunct associate professor appointments at both Hong Kong University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong. For the last 30 years he has been living and working in China, focused on the R&D of new medicines.
