The world of noodles is all around us: in, out and around Shanghai's 3,000 noodle shops. It is vast and has room for all types of characters, from bossy chefs who yell at their customers to spiritual seekers selling luxury noodles they have never tasted themselves. In this talk, Christopher St. Cavish will tell three of their stories, two from Shanghai and one with national implications, from a book about noodles he is currently writing.
After the talk, we will walk to a nearby noodle shop to have dinner together. Please indicate whether you will join us for dinner when you register for the event.

St. Cavish
Christopher St. Cavish has been a professional chef and, later, a food writer, for the past 25 years. Most of that time has been spent in Shanghai, where he arrived as a chef and grew into writing. He has written for publications in China and around the world, and maintains a WeChat Official Account where he posts original features and stories. He is researching and writing a China book, themed on noodles and the people who make them. He has lived in Shanghai since 2005.
