Join Maxime Tondeur of Explore Beyond on a Saturday morning city walk with RAS members and friends. Wander the corridors and staircases of Suzhou Creek's most prominent apartment building to unravel its hidden history and to reflect on its various transformations that serve as a metaphor of the city itself. Continue by shared bicycle (for about 3 km) to Shanghai's former "slaughterhouse," an Art Deco and feng shui masterpiece. Learn all about its clever and fascinating inner workings, which remains a mystery to most visitors, and its timeless design, once the setting of a 1960s propaganda film. Finish the walk with a cycle on a shared bike (about 2 km) to a remote Buddhist nunnery that was once a seafaring folks' favourite site to pray for a safe maritime voyage return back to home.
