The feature documentary China Love was conceived and directed by Olivia Martin-McGuire during her time of residing in Shanghai. The movie centers on the experience of China through the prism of love, marriage and the pre-wedding photo industry. She follows and documents this uniquely Chinese cultural phenomenon through personal interviews with young couples about to be married as well as older parents who have high hopes and wishes for their single child. Poignant and tinged with humor, the documentary allows the viewers a personal glimpse into how love and marriage operate in mainland China in the milieu of its accelerated economy
