A Walk to Discover Three French Architects in Shanghai

In the early 20th century, Shanghai became a crossroads for cultural and architectural exchanges, earning the nickname "Paris of the Orient". It was during this cosmopolitan era that three French architects, Leonard, Veysseyre and Kruze (LVK), left their print, contributing to the cityscape with their distinctive designs. Follow Clarisse Le Guernic for a 2.5-hour walk in Xuhui District to discover the stories behind these three architects' iconic buildings that have stood the test of time.

Founder of Arcade Experiences
Clarisse Le Guernic arrived in Shanghai in 2015 as an exchange student to study Chinese Studies at Fudan University, and then graduated from Ningbo University with a degree in Tourism Management. Since 2017, she has been leading historic walks in Shanghai in English, Chinese and French. She found her own company Arcade Experiences in April 2020. Clarisse is passionate about history and architecture, unearthing secrets from the local Shanghainese when she can. She loves reading archives and maps and chronicling oral narratives to document her walks.
