RAS is pleased is announce the next session of Stories of Things on Saturday, June 1st from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. The event will be held near the RAS Reading Room on the West Bund. Location details will be provided later to registrants.
We are delighted to have two speakers. Gian Luca Scarpa will bring his beloved Chinese bicycle and will tell us all of its stories, histories and likely some adventures as well. We are likewise thrilled to have Karolina Pawlik back with us. She brings an acupuncture ear model collected from a demolition site, a bit of history rescued from the disappearing lilong communities of Shanghai. With Karolina, a thing is never just a thing, but rather a multi-layered witness to the past.
Beverages and light snacks will be served. Entry for members and friends is rmb100. Non-members is rmb200.
