What was the influence behind the man who shaped Shanghai's iconic architecture and China's modern architectural movement? As one of the "Four Masters of Chinese Architecture," Tung Chuin (also known as Tong Jun) was a pioneering artist, educator and one of the founders of the Allied Architects studio in Shanghai. The exhibit "Grand Tour of a Chinese Architect" at the Jiushi Art Museum takes an extensive look at Tung's travels during his four-month tour of Europe in 1930, with over 80 sketches and watercolors that he created during this period. Tung captured the spirit of the various architectural heritages of England, Italy, France, Germany and the Netherlands and also captured new movements in modern architecture such as the Bauhaus movement in Germany.
We will have a private, English-language tour of the exhibit on its very last day, so don't miss out on this great opportunity! The ticket price includes museum entrance and the tour fee.
